There are more than 30,000 qualified plumbers in Victoria. Only 101 of them are women.

It’s no secret that women are under-represented in the plumbing industry…but with your help, we’re going to change that.

The Women in Plumbing program is a Master Plumbers and Plumbing Apprenticeships Victoria initiative backed by the Victorian Government’s Apprenticeship Victoria program, which seeks to champion a connected community of aspiring female students, apprentices, and plumbers address participation rates for women in Plumbing.

The Women in Plumbing program is tailored to support women on their plumbing journey at EVERY step of the way, No matter what stage they are in life, including:

Making the decision


We know that there is a lack of understanding about what a plumbing career can offer and a lack of exposure to successful female role models in the industry. Women in Plumbing will bust the myths and stereotypes and shine a light on a great network of female plumbers to show you how it all works and examples of what a career in Plumbing could be.

Information for parents and schools


This program will ensure that parents and careers teachers are clear about the journey into Plumbing and how women of all ages and experiences can get involved, and hear from other women who have entered into the career and been successful in doing so.

Paid Pre-Apprenticeships


Get paid to do a Certificate II Pre-apprenticeship, with ongoing mentor support and work experience provided.

Direct entry into a Master Plumbers Apprenticeship


Continue straight into an apprenticeship with Plumbing Apprenticeships Victoria, Master Plumbers Group Training Organisation. Master Plumbers, Apprenticeships Victoria and Plumbing Apprenticeships, will fully support you with dedicated field officers, mentors and ongoing training and experience with our host employers.

Join a community of fellow female plumbers


From the minute you join the program throughout your career, you will join a community of fellow female apprentices and plumbers with ongoing networking, mentoring, training and social events.
